AllHandsOnDeck

24. March 2023

Can you imagine what all is possible with the profession “hairdresser”? I could not and if only someone had told me. You can tell a lot.

AllHandsOnDeck

This is where all my worlds come together, private and professional. The combination of live music and my line of work, is simply a major win.

I have spent half my life at concerts, festivals & live events. For the most part in front of the stage as a paying guest. I would never have dreamed of being able to work behind the scenes. A different view, from behind the stage, the relaxed atmosphere, when the gig is still an eternity away. In the next moment hecticness comes into play, time is running. Wonderful!

Meanwhile, I can say, when certain people ask me for jobs/projects, there is always only one answer. Because working with people who challenge me (positively), encourage me & with whom it is fun. Goal achieved. In the case in question, Kike called & I was very happy to answer her call.

The project “All Hands On Deck” & what is it all about?

“The event industry is in a vicious circle: shows, festivals and events are cancelled, among other things, because there is a lack of staff.
However, there are no new recruits coming in and many people who have been in the industry for years have left due to a lack of prospects, overwork and safety concerns, among other reasons. Entry into the industry is not transparent and many new entrants are unaware of the actual variety of professions. There is a lack of information sources and role models.

“All Hands On Deck” wants to do everything to ensure that music has a future – and offers a reliable perspective again.
To that end, more shows and workshops are being planned for the diverse up-and-coming talent in the industry.”

This of course includes the Hair & Make-Up department, because whether on stage or in front of a camera, the good feel moment is enormously important in this case & my work. The diversity is in no way to be underestimated. Professional competence, are essential here.

Of course, the hairdressing industry also has considerable need for young talent and I try here the balancing act between the two worlds. Because one industry does not exclude the other and both can benefit from each other.

The collaboration with “All Hands on Deck” goes into the next round for me as a mentor in April 2023. There will be a main event & workshops on the various industries & departments.

An “All Hands On Deck” concert, which is planned and executed together with young people and young professionals. Through workshops from April 01 to 14, 2023, guided by various mentors, the newcomers will get a simplified entry and insight into the industry, with the aim to win them in the long term for the varied and unique jobs and to make the jobs of the crew tangible, thus securing the future of the live and music industry. “The focus of this educational event is on promoting young talent and introducing new talent to the diverse event industry without too many barriers to entry and hopefully sparking enthusiasm.
